New 2010: Sailing race for traditional ships and boats in Åland 12-17.7.

Welcome onboard Talassa for a six days cruise in the archipelago of Åland and Åboland! The departure is on Monday 12.7 at 10 am. when we will sail to Degerby in the Åland archipelago. There Talassa is participating in the race for traditional sailingships and boats on Wednesday 14.7 and sail to Mariehamn, the capital of Åland Islands where we visit the "Ålands Sjödagar", an annual maritime festival with dance and music. The next day the ship sets sails homeward and we will sleep overnight in a natural harbour. During the trip we will also visit Jungfruskär, an island halfway between Åland and Åboland, that is well known for its outstanding beauty. We will be back in Parainen at Saturday 17.7 in the afternoon.
The trip lasts 6 days and 5 nights. The price: 1100€/person and includes full pension (breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee and dinner) and sleeping onboard. Notice! minimum 5 - maximum 8 persons/group. The cruise suits well for families or good friends, who wish to experience a true archipelago adventure!

General information

Skeppargården's sailing vessel s/v Talassa is located at Solliden camping in Pargas, about 1,5 km from Pargas centre and 25 km from Turku. The distance between Skeppargården and Solliden is also approximately 2 km.

If you travel by bus from Turku to Parainen, you should get off the bus at the bus station, from where it is about 1,5 km to the camping site. If you're travelling by car from Turku, there's a right turn on Saaristotie (road 180) just before Parainen centre. Follow the signposting! The nearest airport is Turku airport, about 40 km from Parainen.

Talassa's sailing season stretches from May to October. In May, September and October the cruises are arranged only for groups in accordance to agreement. Call for a tender!

If nothing else has been agreed on, Skeppargården's cruises depart and arrive at Solliden's dock.

Passengers are recommended to dress casually according to the weathercast, and have sturdy shoe wear. Please note that the wind at sea can be considerably colder than on land – especially at the beginning of the summer!

Skeppargården follows the Archipelago Sea national park's requirements and standard for preserving nature and nature tourism and is newly appointed a Pan Parks Local Business Partner!

Three Hour Cruise

Have You ever sat a foot onboard a real sailing ship? We offer You a three hour long cruise in the waters outside of Parainen, with the classic Danish sailing cutter Talassa. The sailing ship with two masts is easy to sail and has a wieldy rig – even for beginners. You are more than welcome to participate in the sailing along with the experienced and professional crew. You can also choose to just relax and enjoy the summer breeze, sea and archipelago. Onboard the ship, there's a coffee basket filled with coffee/tea/juice and coffee bread.

The cruises take place every Monday during 7.6-25.8, between 1 pm-4 pm.
The price is 40€/adult and 25€/children under the age of 13. The price includes coffee/tea/juice and coffee bread. The minimum number of people is 1, and maximum 12.

Bookings should be made the day before departure, at the latest!

At times and dates outside of the ones previously mentioned, cruises are arranged only for groups according to agreement. Call for a tender!

Six Hour Cruise

Experience a summerday sailing with the 108 years old Danish sailing cutter Talassa! We set sail and cruise through the inner archipelago out towards wider waters and eat Skeppargården's light lunch. The ship with two masts is easy to sail and has a wieldy rig – even for beginners. You are more than welcome to participate in the sailing along with the experienced and professional crew. You can also choose to just relax and enjoy the summer breeze, sea and archipelago.

The cruises take place every Wednesday during 7.6-25.8, between 10 am-4 pm.
The price is 60€/adult and 40€/children under the age of 13. The price includes Skeppargården's lunch. The minimum number of people is 1, and maximum 12.
Bookings should be made by noon at the Tuesday before departure, at the latest!

At times and dates outside of the ones previously mentioned, cruises are arranged only for groups according to agreement. Call for a tender!

Sailing adventure in the Archipelago

For you who want to experience the archipelago nature up close, sail with a sailing ship, navigate, and meet new people!

We arrange a four day long cruise in the Archipelago Sea with the sailing ship Talassa.

You get to participate in the sailing as a part of the crew and steer the ship, with the help of an experienced and professional crew. We visit both inhabited and uninhabited islands and skerries. We'll also visit quaint villages in the archipelago, and the Archipelago Sea's national park with unique experiences of wildlife and old fishing stations. Our motto is to sail wherever the wind takes us – with emphasis on the sailing! Join us on an unforgettable journey!

The sailing adventure is arranged for groups in accordance to agreement.
Departures from Parainen from Solliden camping, the guestharbour in Parainen centre or Airisto Hotel, or from Turku, Forum Marinum due to agreement.

The price is 700€/person and the price include full boarding during the sail: breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee and dinner. We sleep in berths (bunk-beds) onboard the ship. You will accommodate in common rooms, and have common meals with the rest of the passengers onboard, with a menu of homely cooking. No alcohol is taken onboard, for safety reasons, but it's ok to have some wine/beer with the meals. You should have warm and wind-sustainable clothing, rainwear as well as a pair of sturdy footwear. You will also need a sleepingbag. If the opportunity rises during the cruise, we may also visit restaurants in the archipelago, rent a sauna, buy kipper, or arrange sleeping accommodation ashore. However, this is not included in the cruise price so you pay yourself for whatever additional services that are made.

Bookings are to be made 30 days before departure date, at the latest! Half the price of the cruise should be paid in advance at latest 14 days before departure. If the cruise is cancelled later than this, the payment will not be returned!

The ship has P&I-insurance covering its passengers, but we still recommend that you have travel insurance.

Commissioned cruises

Talassa is perfectly suitable for groups of up to 12 people. We offer sailing where our guests are more than welcome to participate and hold to the helm or set sail, with the assistance of an experienced and professional crew. We always strive to minimize the engine-run time and prefer to sail, if the breeze allows. Talassa is very easy to sail and handle even in hard winds without making it uncomfortable for the passengers onboard.

We have a well equipped pentry and can arrange dinners onboard. Around the table in the salon, there is room for 12 people dining simultaneously. If the weather's nice you can take the plate up on the deck, where you can comfortably sit and eat while enjoying the archipelago landscape. Why not arrange a family gathering onboard! Or round up your association or a group of good friends for a joint excursion!

We can guarantee companies an unforgettable experience for clients or employees!

Skeppargården takes care of your food order and catering onboard when required. The ship doesn't have an alcohol permit. Beverages may be acquired onboard according to the customer's order.

We always give tenders to groups! The basic rate is the following: Entry price 600€, with a three hour cruise included. Every additional hour costs 150€. If the departure isn't from Solliden camping, a transportation fee of 10€/sea mile will be added. Food and catering according to agreement. All prices include a two-people crew and value-added tax. Talassa is registered for 12 persons.
